A Mermaid-Themed Birthday Party to Remember
When a friend asked me to help with her daughters’ birthday party, I knew it had to be magical. The theme? Mermaids for two adorable birthday girls — ages three and five. It was the perfect opportunity to combine whimsical ocean vibes with my love for hand-lettered details.
Setting the Scene: Under the Sea
From the moment guests arrived, they were transported into a shimmering underwater world. Soft purples, blues, and shimmering golds set the tone, and seashell details were sprinkled everywhere. The tables were dressed in aqua tablecloths, with gold runners and pops of pink from fresh roses.
But the real show-stoppers? Hand-lettered seashells that brought a personal, one-of-a-kind touch to the entire event.

For the sweets table, I lettered a large white scallop shell with the word “Sweets” in flowing gold script — nestled right next to a display of mini cupcakes.
The drink station had a matching shell labeled “Lemonade,” sitting in front of a glass drink dispenser filled with seashells and colorful beads, making even the refreshment table part of the theme.
At the head table, each birthday girl had her own name shell, placed alongside framed photos and sparkling decor. Guests loved pointing them out — it was a keepsake for the girls and a charming detail for the party.
